Supermom In Training: Toronto is our family-friendly home away from home

We absolutely love travelling to Toronto - a super family-friendly city, there's lots to do and plenty to see, loads of great restaurants, many transportation options, things to play, things to learn, and so much more. We've definitely made our rounds in TO and visited all the attractions, and here are some of our favourites.

Legoland. Located just outside of Toronto in Vaughan, Legoland is a fantastic discovery centre where you can see huge structures of Legos, try out Lego-themed rides, build and test your imagination, plus check out a cool 4D movie. We couldn't pull the bean away from their car-building station, where there are plenty of Lego pieces and ramps to keep your kids busy for hours. The gift shop was especially fun. Legoland is also attached to Vaughan Mills mall, where you'll find toy stores, Sugar Mountain candy store, a Disney outlet store, kid-centric shops like Sport Chek for kids, and a Pro Bass Shop, which is definitely worthy of exploring.

Ontario Science Centre always has something interesting to see and do there. This sprawling educational must-see is for everyone, from the littles (like a hands-on play area with a complete grocery store as well as a water/bubble exploration section) to teens and adults (their planetarium is super interactive, and you can also check out an IMAX movie there). Dine at their cafe, and they conveniently have a few Tim Hortons throughout the museum too.

Ripley's Aquarium of Canada. I can't say enough good things about this place. It's truly one of the coolest places our family has ever been. We loved the moving sidewalk where we were literally "in" the aquarium with the sharks, rays, sea turtles and more - we felt like we could practically touch the nurse sharks and sawfish swimming by. We saw all the life stages of jellyfish as they were beautifully displayed with black lights, plus the bean got to pet a horseshoe crab and a baby shark. So many incredible things to see here. And not only do they have a really fun gift shop, but it's reasonably priced too.

Whenever we go to Toronto, we stay at the Ritz-Carlton. Located on Wellington Street West, it's really one of the most central hotels in the city. We were able to walk over to the CN Tower and Ripley's Aquarium, and we were close to all public transportation, shops, restaurants and cafes. We spend hours in their luxurious pool and hot tub overlooking the Tower and Lake Ontario. The service and staff of this hotel are like no other: attentive, caring, and professional, they're willing to assist you in absolutely any way possible (a huge reassurance when you're a family travelling with children). We always take advantage of the Ritz-Carlton Club® Level, where we can enjoy their lounge, which offers continuous complimentary culinary offerings throughout the day (breakfast, light snacks, hors d'oeuvres, alcoholic beverages and sweets) - in fact, they packed us up an entire lunch for our roadtrip home the day we left. And they also spoiled our bean when they heard it was his birthday recently: he not only had a tent and balloons in the room, but was delivered a birthday gift and chocolates both nights we were there! It's our family's absolute favourite place to stay in the entire world.
