Supermom In Training: Our March Break week

I look forward to March Break probably as much as my 5-year-old son. I volunteer at the school more than 10 hours a week, and it's a much-needed break from it all, for everyone in our house! Despite the fact that I like to rest and recoup a bit, I also like to take advantage of all the fun things going on around the city during this kid-friendly week. So this is how we're spending our March Break week.

Monday - Skating at a local arena in St. Lambert with friends. Many of the borough's local arenas have special extended hours this week. There's also fun skating to be done at any one of the countless outdoor rinks. Don't forget about all the skating gems our city has: Beaver Lake, Old Montreal, Le Atrium 1000, and more.

Tuesday - Sledding at a local park in Ile Perrot with friends. With a busy every-weekend hockey schedule, we haven't had a chance to do much sledding. So we're looking forward to spending time with our West Island friends sledding and then doing a make-your-own-pizza lunch. Sledding is a great way to enjoy winter and snow, burn off some energy, and really have fun at all ages.

Wednesday - Downtown museum day. Given we live on the South Shore, it's easier to scoot downtown during the week on the metro (plus it's a thrill for my son). We'll be checking our the Redpath Museum along with the Chateau Ramezay, both of which have special events going on for March Break. There's also fun stuff happening at ExpoRail, Stewart Museum, MMFA, Laval Nature Centre, and more.

Thursday - R&R day. We're going to have breakfast in bed, stay in our PJs, have naps and maybe a hot bubble bath, play video games, read books, work on our 3D shark puzzle, play a few games of UNO, and do what March Break is all about: take a break from it all.

Friday - Cooking workshop at the Provigo in Pierrefonds. A comprehensive cooking workshop, the bean will join other kids in creating an entire menu: chicken parmesean with a homemade tomato sauce, focaccia bread, Caesar salad, Shirley Temple cocktails, and a decadent dessert, plus lunch, crafts, and more.

What are your plans for the break? We'd love to hear what's on your agenda!
