SCHOOL VOICES: Learning How to Become a Leader

“The future depends on what we do in the present.” This quote by Mahatma Gandhi is something I believe in and see in action at Akiva School.

Every day, our teachers and staff provide us with the knowledge today to become the leaders of tomorrow. We are taught important values and given opportunities to put our leadership skills in action.

As a grade 6 student, I have been offered many leadership opportunities, such as reading to younger grades, leading fundraising activities and serving as an ambassador at the Open House. Selected as one of a few students to represent our school I was able to share with new potential families what it means to be part of the Akiva community.

All of my Akiva experiences have taught me to be confident, responsible and help me determine what is right from wrong. These small acts of leadership give us the confidence to know that we can go out into the world and make a difference.
