Recipe: Turn Your Cheese Ball Into A Turkey
October 03, 2018
Food
It's the ultimate "no-bake" Thanksgiving turkey. The best part? You can carve it with a cracker! Gobble, gobble!
Here's All You'll Need for Your Edible Masterpiece
- Pecans, for the body.
- Whole wheat crackers, for the tail feathers
- Red bell peppers to form the head and neck
- Black olives for the eyes
- Thinly sliced carrot or yellow squash for the turkey beak.
- Glue, in this case, 1/3 cup of softened cream cheese
- A glue gun, or, for this, a piping bag with a small tip. As a bonus, it's the right size to punch out "turkey eyes" from a black olive.
Helpful Hints:
- Use plastic wrap in a bowl to shape the cheese ball. Wrap the plastic wrap to make the ball as tight as possible
- Freeze for 30 minutes to an hour
- Coat your hands in olive oil to keep the cheese from sticking too badly
- Unwrap the cheeseball and let the surface come to room temp, so it's easier to attach "feathers"
- Make sure the red peppers/olives/carrot are very dry so that the cream cheese glue sticks
- Refrigerate as needed to keep the entire cheese ball from getting too soft
