My Picks for Stress and Anxiety Relief

Between the never-ending global pandemic, restaurant and gym closures, restricted get togethers, the colder weather and the shorter days, it can be difficult not to get stressed and develop anxiety.

During these times, it is more important than ever to find the time to relax and decompress, as mentioned in Psychology Today: “Some experts claim that stress is responsible for as much as 90% of all illnesses and diseases.”

Although exercise, meditation, eating healthy, gratitude, and stretching are all great ways to help you stay calm and relax, I, for one, find adding another activity to my day more stressful.

HERE ARE MY GO-TO STRESS RELIEVERS

Essential Oil Diffusers

These are often used to distress and relieve anxiety. As mentioned on a feature by Healthline: “Aromatherapy is the practice of inhaling the scent of essential oils to improve your well-being.” Some oils that I use when I need a sense of calmness are lavender, clary sage, holy basil, and jasmine oil.

Get a Massage - Or Use a Massage Gun!

Getting a massage is a pretty reliable way to relieve some stress, however unfortunately during COVID you may not feel comfortable to get an in-person massage.  If you want to have a similar effect, a massage gun can come in handy. A massage gun works by sending direct vibrating pulses through your muscles, therefore helping relieve stress and muscle fatigue.

Acupressure Mats

Do you even know what this is? It’s a mat covered with hundreds of plastic nubs; these small bulges deliver pressure to parts of the body in contact with the surface. Deep stimulation from the acupressure matt releases endorphins to naturally reduce aches and tension. My acupressure mat is from Spoonk. I have had it for four years now and love it. I feel re-energized after standing on it for 10 minutes.

Himalayan Salt Lamps

Himalayan Salt Lamps are known to be “natural ionizers,” meaning they change the electrical charge of the circulating air. They are known to improve air quality, boost your mood and help with sleep. Although these benefits are not proven, I still enjoy the warm glow of the lamp. I find it to be extremely calming.

Love Yourself No Question (LYNQ)

To me there’s no better way to decompress than by getting lost in a book and sipping on hot cocoa, especially one that’s also an immune booster. LYNQ Invincible is made with nutrients from fruits and veggies and each serving provides 100% daily requirement of vitamin C – but the best part is its delicious taste.

One that has spiked my interest and I have been contemplating is the weighted blanket. It seems comfy and cozy, but I am not sure if I would feel clausterphobic.  Any recommendations and feedback would be appreciated by me :)

Enjoy the weekend!
