Kidcon is ON October 22-23

Montreal’s most unique family event is back! KidCon is two days of non-stop fun, games, creativity and live entertainment designed exclusively for children aged three to 12 and their families. This year’s edition will take place at Stade Uniprix on October 22 and 23, with a lineup that’s even bigger and better than last year.

Many of children’s best-loved brands will be making live appearances—including Chase and Marshall from one of the hottest kids’ shows on TV, Paw Patrol; walkaround Cookie Monster, Elmo and Abby from perennial favourite Sesame Street; the world-renowned Raving Rabbids; and from a galaxy far, far away, astounding Star Wars characters. The main stage will feature live unique musical performances including a 25th anniversary celebration of Caillou, and Thomas the Tank Engine.

There are plenty of hands-on activities to engage your children’s imagination as well. Kids can play to their heart’s content with Lego in the Every Brick is Awesome Brick Zone presented by Bricks 4 Kidz, as well as with Playmobil hockey products and much more. In the Video Game Zone organized in collaboration with the West Island’s Nemesis Video Game Lounge, they can enjoy a surreal virtual reality experience and play a variety of popular games, from Minecraft to Just Dance.

Kids can express their creativity in the crafts corner, presented in association with Sheltoons, and stimulate their minds in the board games area. The inflatable playground, courtesy of Amusement Expert, on the other hand, will have everyone bouncing for joy, and when you’re ready for a little quiet time, head to the reading retreat, where children’s authors will be on hand to read their stories.

There will be a costume parade on the main stage where little ones can dress up as their favourite characters, strut their stuff and win prizes. Funky Toys will be on hand to host a Shopkins Trading Party, where kids can acquire more cute characters for their collection. And look out for plenty more larger than life characters, including Youppi!, Hazel and Posie from Little Charmers, Clifford the Big Red Dog, Curious George and more, who will be on site throughout the weekend, ready to give a high five, receive a hug and pose for a photo.

You might think that’s plenty for one weekend, but there’s lots more on offer: skateboard and sports demos and activities, a jewellery workshop, drones and radio-controlled toys, educational toys and technology, and exhibitors showcasing toys, games, clothing, accessories, books, food and comics with popular brands like Marvel, Disney and Star Wars.

And if that’s not enough for you, how about discovering Poi, a blend of juggling and performance art originally practiced by M?ori warriors? Watching feats of cup-stacking by champions of this growing sport, and joining in? Or learning the secrets of slime and ice in the Mad Science space? When KidCon promises “Everything Fun” in one place, they’re not kidding.

For parents looking for indoor activities that will keep their children active and engaged during the chilly fall and winter months, KidCon is a lifesaver. There’s something to suit all tastes and keep boys, girls and their families’ inner child happy all weekend long.

You can buy advance tickets by going to kidconmtl.com or Admission.com or by calling 514-790-1245. There are four-and five-person passes available that make this one of the more affordable activities you can find for the whole family—and as an added bonus, it’s free for kids two and under.

You’ll have to wait another year until the next one, so don’t miss this perfect occasion to have fun and bond together as a whole family.
