Healthy Life: Time to be thankful – 365 days a year

Every day, little things go wrong or little things upset us. Unfortunately, we spend most of our time focusing on those negative “little things” without stopping to think about how much there is to be grateful for.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I thought there would be no better time to reflect upon what I am grateful for. In doing so, I hope to inspire you to take a moment to truly appreciate the things in your life.

I am thankful for…

  1. My parents: Without my parents, I would literally not be here. But beyond that, without my parents I would not be the person I am today. They provide me with constant guidance, support and wisdom.
  2. My sisters: My older sisters are my best friends and they are always there for me in the good and the bad times. They are my cheerleaders, and I know that I will always have them by my side.
  3. Friends: I have made friends and lost friends through my life. I am equally grateful for them all. The nice friends, the mean friends, the backstabbing friends, the uplifting friends – all of them. They have each taught me something special.
  4. Health: I am healthy. I feel good, energized and alive everyday.
  5. Education: I find myself complaining about going to school all the time, but when I take a step back, I realize how many individuals would die for an education.
  6. Opportunities: I used to let fear stop me from trying new things. Now, I let go of fear and have experienced some of the most amazing opportunities in my life. These opportunities have allowed me to find myself, and they light me up every single day.
  7. Mistakes: I am not perfect. I have made many mistakes and done many things that I am not proud of. I am thankful for these mistakes because they have allowed me to learn and grow as an individual.
  8. Green trees and blue skies: I love the sight green leaves and a clear blue sky. I am so thankful for the nature that surrounds me.
  9. Laughter: Life would be boring without laughter, wouldn’t it?
  10. Dance: My therapy. My self-expression. My passion.

There you have it: 10 things that I normally take for granted everyday. This list can go on and on, but these are just a few ideas.

Practicing daily gratitude helps relieve stress, increase happiness and maintain overall inspiration in life.

So, start right now! Grad a journal and a pen, and let your heart write down all that you are grateful for. Hopefully, doing this daily will make your days seem a little brighter.

Thanksgiving is the obvious day for being thankful, but it should be practiced every other day of the year, too.

That being said, happy 365 days of being thankful!
