Healthy Life: In a World Full of Darkness, Shine your Light

The planet we all call home is currently experiencing more atrocities than imaginable. Hurricanes, wars, sickness, death and famine are taking the lives of innocent beings or scaring them forever.

The reality is, our world is in darkness, and most of us feel helpless.

When I was younger, I had a teacher who told me that I had the power to change the world. That idea ignited an immediate spark in me and I gained, since then, this drive to make a difference. The problem was, I had no idea how. The whole idea of "changing the world" seemed quite impossible and unrealistic, so I forgot about it and kept living my life.

It wasn't until recently when I realized that I didn't need to do something extravagant to create a change in the world. All it took was one very simple thing:

SHINE MY LIGHT.

This really isn’t such a complex idea.

By staying positive in negative situations, you are

SHINING YOUR LIGHT

By choosing to spread love and happiness, you are

SHINING YOUR LIGHT

By inhaling love and exhaling hate, you are

SHINING YOUR LIGHT

By doing everything with passion, you are

SHINING YOUR LIGHT

By uplifting those around you rather than tearing them down, you are

SHINING YOUR LIGHT

Skeptical in the beginning, I thought how can "shining my light" get rid of the atrocities in our world? But soon enough, I noticed that the more I shined my light, the more others who surrounded me were able to shine theirs. The truth is, shining our light is contagious. Nelson Mandela once said:

“When you let your own light shine, you unconsciously give other permission to do the same.”

It’s important to take a step back and recognize that we may not have the power to directly change the world. But by choosing to simply shine our light, it gives us the power to motivate and inspire the worlds individuals to shine their own. This ripple effect is the key to unlocking a brighter, more compassionate world, and suddenly we can all feel a little less helpless.

Think about it. If we all turn on our lights, the world will eventually have no choice but to be less dark. It only makes sense.
