Healthy Life: Easy nutrition for busy families IS possible!

What if I told you that only 9% percent of kids consume the recommended servings of vegetables, and only 21 percent get enough fruit? It's a staggering statistic. And another study found that Canadian kids are consuming up to half of their daily calories from processed foods and refined sugar. Another scary fact!

Fresh fruits and veggies, especially organic ones, are an indisputable ideal source of nutrition. However, they can be pricey, have a short shelf-life and aren’t always accessible. And, they’re not very portable without some pre-planning.

It’s easy to understand how rushing around in the afternoons or weekends in between kids’ practices, games, other activities and working, can lead parents to want to take a short-cut, like heading to a drive-through in between point A and point B.

I get it.

We moms and dads are time-starved, and when we have hangry kids in the backseat, fast food to the rescue. French fries sound more appealing than leafy greens to most kids I know.

A few years ago I started LYNQ, which stands for Love Yourself No Question, and these are functional fruit and veggie-based powdered drinks. I created it for my family to ensure that we would get the nutrients we need  from fruits and vegetables in our diet. I am glad I did. I can really feel good about its impact on making fruits and veggies more accessible.

Now, I am happy to report that as a family, we make a concerted effort to consume more veggies with our meals whenever we can – but when we are on the go, I can feel confident that LYNQ is helping my boys and me get the nutrients we need to be on their A-game. Sure, we indulge in French fries once in a while too. Life is all about balance, after all.
