Family activity of the week: Opening weekend for water parks

You know summer has arrived when the water parks and splash pads start up again. So get those beach bags stocked and filled with sunscreen, goggles, towels, and any other pool-day necessity, because it's time to get wet and cool off from the hot summer sun!

This week, you'll find that a lot of local municipalities have gotten their splash pads cleaned up, and they're up and running. Visit your borough's website for more info.

Waterslide places like Super Aqua Club and Calypso (which is just outside of Ottawa) have also opened. They have new slides, new water features, and tons of great stuff for a day with the family.

This weekend is the official opening of Bromont Water Park as well as St. Saveur Water Park too. Amazoo at Granby Zoo also opens this weekend. While it may be a bit of a drive to get to these locales, you'll see that it was worth the trip, because there are countless things to do, for people of all ages.

If a sandy beach is more your thing, there are several in the area that are ready to go (like Oka Provincial Park, Pointe-Calumet, and more), so check out their websites for schedules and events that are going on all summer long.
