Everything Mom: One more day

For some reason we have been programmed to think that being busy, exhausted, and sleep deprived equals being successful, so we put self-care on the back burner (I am so guilty of this). Reality is, until we make ourselves a priority, we simply can’t be our very best!

The go-to excuse is “but I don't have time”... well, just maybe this year, we do! We get 24 extra hours - tomorrow, in fact. February 29th.

On this Leap Day (thankfully it’s a Saturday!) I challenge myself and you to take even just a slice of the day to do something for you and for you alone. I have booked a facial for myself.

Try something that stirs an emotion, something that thrills you or inspires you, relaxes you, piques your curiosity, or moves you (literally or metaphorically).

Whether you take time to read a few chapters of a new book, Netflix binge, take a yoga class, get that massage you’ve been postponing, take a bike ride, go on a picnic or a snowboard sesh, take a walk, or maybe indulge in a cozy nap, you deserve it. Don’t feel guilty. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Please share some of the things you will be doing for yourself.

As the co-founder of LYNQ, where Love Yourself No Question is our mantra, it serves as a reminder to me that it’s okay to make time to take care of ourselves, inside and out.

And whatever we do, we shouldn’t wait another four years to make ourselves a priority. Happy Leap Day!
