Dear Zoo

What little one doesn’t love a lift-the-flap book? We were given this book as a gift for my son’s first birthday and he quickly became obsessed with it. He memorized the different flaps and which direction they lifted, he learned to make the different animal sounds, and it was one of the few board books we completely wore out. A perfect title for our smallest little readers.

Activities to go with this title

- Lion with a spaghetti mane. Stiff spaghetti arranged in pieces around the lion’s face is a fun cheery way of making his mane. This is better for a toddler versus younger, and is not only a cool craft but great for working on fine motor skills.

- Handprint crafts. Turn your child’s handprint into any one of these fun zoo animals, from giraffes to monkeys and more!

- Peekaboo board. Make your own larger version of a lift the flap board with a zoo-themed peekaboo board. Glue a few photos of zoo animals to a Bristol board and then cover it with a slightly larger piece of cardboard, affixing on either side, the top or the bottom (just to keep it interesting to your little one).
